Our History in Brazil

Scotiabank offers clients local expertise and global reach. We have operated in Brazil with a representative office since the early 1970’s providing trade finance and correspondent banking services through affiliates abroad. In 2008, we expanded our global infrastructure finance platform in Brazil, and in 2011, after completing the acquisition of Dresdner Bank Brasil, Scotiabank offers clients access to a wide range of corporate and investment banking and capital markets products and services.

Since welcoming our first customers in Canada, in 1832, Scotiabank has continued to expand its global reach. The Scotiabank Group offers a diverse range of products and services to some 23 million customers in more than 50 countries around the world. With more than 88,000 employees, of which more than 30,000 are based in Latin America, Scotiabank also has a large presence in other Latin American countries, including Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Puerto Rico, Venezuela and Uruguay.
